Unit 2 Review: People and Places
Welcome to your Unit 2 review! Let’s practice what you’ve learned about describing people and places in Italian.
1. Subject Pronouns & ‘Essere’ (To Be)
Remember how pronouns change the verb essere:
- Io sono (I am)
- Tu sei (You are – informal)
- Lui è / Lei è (He is / She is)
- Noi siamo (We are)
- Voi siete (You are – plural)
- Loro sono (They are)
2. Noun Plurals & Adjectives
Italian nouns change their endings in the plural:
- Masculine singular -o usually becomes plural -i (e.g., il ragazzo -> i ragazzi).
- Feminine singular -a usually becomes plural -e (e.g., la ragazza -> le ragazze).
Adjectives must match the noun in gender and number! For example: La casa è piccola (The house is small) becomes Le case sono piccole (The houses are small).
Common mistake: Forgetting to make the adjective plural too! Say i libri nuovi (the new books), not i libri nuovo.
