Key Prepositions of Place

Combining Prepositions with Articles
When prepositions like a (in vicino a) meet definite articles (like il, la, lo, i, le), they combine! For example: vicino a + il becomes vicino al (near the, masculine singular). Vicino a + la stays vicino alla (near the, feminine singular).
Examples:
