Describing Relationships

Italiano A1A15. Unit 5: My Family

Describing Family and Pets in Italian

In this lesson, you will learn how to describe the people and pets in your family using basic Italian adjectives. Just like nouns, Italian adjectives change their endings depending on whether the person or pet is masculine (male) or feminine (female), and singular or plural!

Basic Adjective Rules

Examples

Common Mistakes

Remember that in Italian, descriptive adjectives usually come after the noun they describe, unlike in English! Say un gatto nero (a black cat), not un nero gatto.
