Unit 9 Review: Free Time, Weather, and Invitations
Welcome to the Unit 9 Review! In this lesson, we will practice talking about what you like to do in your free time, describing the weather, and inviting friends to do things.
1. Expressing Hobbies with mi piace
To say you like something, use mi piace (I like) followed by an infinitive verb (like giocare) or a singular noun. Use mi piacciono for plural nouns.
- Mi piace leggere. (I like to read.)
- Ti piace il calcio? (Do you like football/soccer?)
2. Talking about the Weather
We use fa (it makes) for weather conditions, or c’è (there is).
- Fa caldo. (It is hot.)
- C’è il sole. (It is sunny.)
3. Making Invitations
Use Ti va di… (Do you feel like…?) to invite someone to do an activity.
- Ti va di giocare a tennis? (Do you feel like playing tennis?)
- Sì, volentieri! (Yes, gladly!)
Common Mistakes
Remember not to confuse mi piace (for one thing or action) with mi piacciono (for plural things).
